AUSSCHREIBUNG
Das 19. Kasseler Dokumentarfilm- und Videofest findet in diesem Jahr vom 13. bis 17.
November 2002 statt. Es versteht sich als Filmfest, das Einblick in das internationale
Dokumentarfilm- und Videoschaffen geben will. Unser Anliegen ist es, innovative,
engagierte und unterhaltsame Dokumentarfilme und Videos zu aktuellen und abseitigen Themen
zu zeigen.
Die Videosektion des Kasseler Dokumentarfilm- und Videofestes ist ebenfalls an
Experimental- und Kunstvideos interessiert, die die Verwendung videospezifischer Mittel
erkennen lassen.
Die Ausstellung MONITORING - in Kooperation mit dem Kasseler Kunstverein und dem
Kulturdezernat/documenta Archiv der Stadt Kassel - praesentiert im KulturBahnhof
raumbezogene Installationen und Skulpturen. Fuer eingereichte Vorschlaege benoetigen wir
eine detaillierte Projektskizze und Technikliste.

KONDITIONEN
Bitte schicken Sie uns bis zum 15. August 2002 Ihre neuen Arbeiten, die 2001 oder 2002
produziert sein sollten. Ist die Originalfassung weder deutsch noch englisch, sollte die
Arbeit in einer der beiden Sprachen untertitelt sein oder eine englische Textliste
beiliegen.
Die Programmauswahl wird am 15. Oktober abgeschlossen sein. Die Entscheidung ueber die
Teilnahme ihrer Arbeit wird Ihnen danach umgehend mitgeteilt. Falls Ihre Arbeit
ausgewaehlt wird, fordern wir von Ihnen eine Vorfuehrkopie in bestmoeglicher Qualitaet an.

PREISE
Fuer eine ueberragende, dokumentarische Nachwuchsarbeit vergibt der Kulturdezernent der
Stadt Kassel in diesem Jahr zum ersten Mal einen Geldpreis in Hoehe von 2.500 EURO.
Teilnahmeberechtigt sind dokumentarische Arbeiten aller Film- und Videoformate deren
Regisseure/Regisseurinnen nicht aelter als 35 Jahre sind.
Um das nordhessische Medienschaffen zu foerdern, wird eine herausragende regionale
Produktion mit dem Preis - "Goldener Herkules" - in Hoehe von 2.500 EURO durch die
Hessische Niedersaechsische Allgemeine (HNA) ausgezeichnet.
Die Werkleitz Gesellschaft e.V. - Zentrum fuer kuenstlerische Bildmedien Sachsen-Anhalt -
vergibt ein Projektstipendium in Form von Sachleistungen im Wert von bis zu 4.000 EURO.
Mit dem "Werkleitz Projektstipendium" sollen Kuenstler/innen praemiert und unterstuetzt
werden, deren Arbeiten in besonderer Weise den innovativen Einsatz digitaler Medien
erkennen lassen.

INTERFICTION
Die diesjaehrige interfiction-Fachtagung mit Vortraegen, Praesentationen und Seminar steht
unter dem Thema "arteFaction! Kunstfehler in/als Medien". Nicht nur digitale
Kunst(hand)werk(e) mit und ohne Autor/innen, sondern vor allem auch
Vermittlungsschwierigkeiten und Uebertragungsfehler aller Art sollen im Hinblick auf ihren
Nutzen und Nachteil fuer die elektronische Kultur diskutiert werden. Der 'Call for Papers/Projects' ist ab Ende Mai 2002 unter http://www.interfiction.net abrufbar.

ANNOUNCEMENT
This year's 19th Kasseler Dokumentarfilm- and Videofest will take place November 13 - 17, 2002. The Kasseler Dokumentarfilm- and Videofest is a festival which aims at providing insight into current international documentary filming and video work. We intend to present critical, ambitious and entertaining documentary films and videos committed to both reports on current affairs and off-beat topics. The video section of the Kasseler Dokumentarfilm- and Videofest is also interested in experimental and artistic videos, which reveal the use of video specific means.

The exhibition MONITORING - organized in cooperation with Kasseler Kunstverein and Kulturdezernat/documenta Archiv - presents media art installations and sculptures. The entries should include a detailed sketch of the project and a list of the technical equipment needed.

DEADLINES AND CONDITIONS
We look forward to receiving your new works - produced in 2001 or 2002 - until August 15, 2002. If the original version is neither in English nor in German, you should subtitle you work or include a text file in English. The selection will be finished by October 15, 2002. We will inform you about our decision soon after. If your work is selected, you will be contacted for a screening copy.

PRIZES
For the first time this year, the Cultural Affairs Office of the City of Kassel will provide a cash prize in the amount of EURO 2,500 for an exceptional documentary work from a young director. Documentary works in all film and video formats are eligible from directors not older than 35 years of age. For supporting the Media development in Northern Hessen, an outstanding regional production is going to be awarded with a prize worth of EURO 2,500 sponsored by the local daily newspaper Hessische Niedersaechsische Allgemeine (HNA).
The Werkleitz Gesellschaft e.V. - Zentrum fuer kuenstlerische Bildmedien Sachsen-Anhalt - assigns the "Werkleitz Projektstipendium", a grant providing technical support worth of up to EURO 4,000. The aim of the "Werkleitz Grant" is to honor and support artists which works indicate in a very special way the innovative use of digital media.

INTERFICTION
This year's interfiction conference including lectures, presentations and a seminar focuses on the topic "arteFaction! Mistakes in/as Media". To be discussed are not only artistic productions with and without authors but also and especially difficulties and errors of all sorts occurring in transmission and the possible benefits and drawbacks of such manifestations for electronic culture.
