Visual Music on The Big Screen

Brain-child of audiovisual artists and producers Addictive TV and
new-media curators Cinefeel, Optronica is a London based festival
exploring the fusion of music and visuals. Optronica features live
audiovisual performances, screenings and related special
presentations from a whole host of audiovisual artists, film-makers
and music acts, all exploring different aspects of audio/visual
fusion and showing how today the long tradition of visual-music has
expanded to include a wide range of styles and practices.

Following the huge success of the festival's second edition in March
2007 organised in collaboration with the British Film Institute, C/O
Pop invited Optronica to present a selection of audiovisual delights
in Köln this summer. There will be live performances by leading UK
audiovisual artists Addictive TV and Semiconductor. Globe-trotting
audio/video remix experts Addictive TV will play a special film remix
set and film-makers and AV experimentalist duo Semiconductor will
present their Sonic Inc and Brilliant Noise projects. Other
participating artists include EZ3kiel from France with their brand
new DVD-Rom project Naphtaline; plus recorded work from top German AV
and VJ artists Bauhouse, Giraffentoast, Pfadfinderei and Transforma,
and a 'Best of Optronica' cinema screening featuring C-TRL Labs,
Dextro, Studio Brutus, Gabriel Shalom, Teppei Kuroyanagi and many
more.

PLUS:
More work exhibited at the VJ Gallery of RheinTriadem, the festival
headquaters, including a short Optronica teaser and a sneak preview of
forthcoming AV albums by British AV acts Exceeda, The Mellowtrons
and The Noodles Foundation.

Addictive TV are a total audiovisual experience driven by their
fast-paced breakbeat AV remixes and video mash-ups. Leading exponents
of the art of audio/video remixing, they have created award-winning
movie remixes for Hollywood and have just remixed the highly
anticipated new Japanese anime feature film Tekkon Kinkreet. Twice
voted #1 VJs in the world by the readers of DJ Magazine, Addictive
TV regularly play all over the globe; from the USA to China, from

SEMICONDUCTOR

Since 1999 UK artists Ruth Jarman and Joseph Gerhardt, aka
Semiconductor, have been exploring many processes of digital
animation to produce moving image works and live animation
performances. They've exhibited work at the ICA London, Venice
Biennale and EMAF in Osnabruck. Semiconductor have just released a
new DVD, Worlds in Flux, with Fat Cat Records. which includes
Brilliant Noise, a film created whilst they were artists in residence
at NASA Space Science Laboratories, animated from tens of thousands
of satellite images of the Sun.

EZ3KIEL

Since their first project Equalize-it in 1999, EZ3kiel's artistic
approach has been to look further into the visual aspect of their
music. Subsequent releases including the acclaimed Versus Tour DVD
confirmed the eclectism and the very personal style of the band.
Their new DVD-Rom Naphtaline (released on Jarring Effects) is an
interactive journey full of fantasy and poetry which features
animated visuals, videos and soundscapes entirely created by Yann
N'Guema, EZ3kiel's bassist. As the band steps ever further in its
multidisciplinary quest, the elegance of their sound and visual
performance along with their constant power to surprise make of
EZ3kiel one of the most exciting bands of French electro music.
