make-shift
an ecologically aware 'house party' with a difference...

11-13th May Brighton/Berlin/Online

"it conveys an intimate connection between performers,
audience and arts that is rare to find.” online participant

On the weekend of 11th-13th May three small groups of 'house guests'
in a Berlin apartment will be linked
with a house in Brighton, UK and online participants globally in an
ecologically aware house party with a difference.

make-shift is an intimate and unique networked performance and
discussion event that re-imagines the
private actions of our domestic lives as multiple, interconnected and
with global consequences. Brokered by Paula Crutchlow (UK) and Helen
Varley Jamieson (NZ/Munich) each event is hosted simultaneously
between two ordinary houses and a specially designed online interface
available at http://www.make-shift.net to anyone around the world with
internet access.

Over the last year and a half Helen, Paula and their co-presenter
avatar 'Dave' have brokered 18 make-shift presentations (from full
salon events to work-in-progress showings and conference papers)
around Europe and in India, Australia and New Zealand.
